Program description
This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention whose remit is to conducts research in malaria, HIV and other diseases.
HBTC Program in Nairobi is in need of 5 interns for HIV testing and counseling in Mathare informal settlements for three months – commencing mid May.
Internship positions and its Educational requirements
Position: Counselors
Education
- Certificate in HIV counseling – certified by NASCOP
- Certificate in psychological counseling
- Ready to travel door to door in sometimes difficult terrain and bad weather
- A good team player and ready to combine efforts in achieving the project’s goals
- Current resident of Nairobi
- Available to be engaged for at least 2 weekends per month or more as needed
Location: Nairobi.
Language: Excellent spoken and written English and Kiswahili
Experience: No experience needed.
Terms of Engagement
Appointment in the Internship program will be for three months. (During the period of Internship, the successful candidate will not be eligible for employment with the KEMRI/CDC Program within the three months of internship)
Remuneration
No compensation will be provided and successful candidates will need to cater for their own accommodation, upkeep and transport during this period.
